The gift shop is located in the main Wansford Station building. We are open on all running days and can be opened by request on non running days. We sell a wide varity of items which caters for everyone, from the young Thomas fan right through to the train enthusiast.
Nene Valley Railway’s gift shop is full of perfect little Christmas gifts so why not come and have a browse. We’ve got stocking fillers for all ages, from Dad’s Army to Thomas, Flamingo mugs to floral note books, a beautiful range of vintage style board games - there really is something for everyone.
We’re open all of the weekends between now and Christmas 9.30am - 4pm, or if you fancy a browse whilst the kids are at school or when it’s a little quieter, we’re also open Wednesdays from approx 10.30am - 14.30pm.

As might be expected from the home of Thomas we keep a huge range of Thomas themed toys and games. This includes the take-and-play Thomas trains which are compatible with the Early-learning and Brio type wooden railways sets. Also compatible with the wooden railway tracks are our big-jigs wooden railway trains and accessories such as tunnels and turntables. Children’s Thomas T shirts, Thomas books games and pocket money toys
For the Adult railway enthusiast we offer a good range of Railway books and DVDs covering steam and diesel

Do you love buying second-hand books? Then our bookshop in the carriage on Platform 4 at Wansford Station is just for you. We aim to be open every weekend operating day (& Bank Holiday Mondays) between the beginning of the February and the end of the October half-terms, but are dependent on volunteer availability. Of course we’re also open every gala day.
We have a large range of books which cover most railway topics and also other transport subjects, ie cars, ships, traction engines, aircraft. Our books range from the common, coffee-table type to the sought-after, out of print examples and our prices reflect that.

If you’re trying to complete a run of magazines (especially Steam Days, BRILL, Back Track) you may find we have the back issues you’re looking for! We also have year bundles of Railway Magazine and Trains Illustrated.
Whilst we are grateful for donations of railway books we can no longer accept videotapes, Steam Railway, Rail or large quantities of model railway magazines.
Not interested in railways? We have sections on gardening, cookery, the countryside, history, etc.
In another part of the coach is a small ‘Thomas’ model railway layout which the children can help to operate.
