Our accessibility coach was originally built in 1957 at British Railway’s York workshops and now runs with the number M4627 as part of our Mk1 rake of coaches. It can be easily accessed via the enlarged doors using a deployable ramp at any of our stations. Inside, our coach now boasts a purpose-built accessible seating area and toilet facilities with an integrated alarm system.
The accessibility coach can be easily identified by its historically accurate British Railways Blue & Grey livery. This was selected after consultation with members of the Nene Valley Railway. The distinctive colour also aids passengers in identifying the coach. If you or anyone in your party requires access to the accessibility coach, please make yourself known to one of our volunteer guards or station staff who will be able to assist.
