9529 is an 0-6-0 Diesel Hydraulic loco built at Swindon Works in 1964 and weighing in at 48.5 tonnes. Originally intended for hauling working movements between local yards and short-distance freight trains in the western region, 9529 was subsequently purchased by the British Steel Company and operated in Buckminster from 1968 to 1972. It was later moved to Corby Steelworks, where it worked until 1981, after which it was moved to Bardon Hill Quarry until 2010 when it was rescued by the Iron Steel & Traction Group and moved to the Nene Valley Railway. 9529 is used for passenger services as well as shunting and civil engineering trains on the NVR.
