Home » Friends of the Nene Valley Railway - Friends of the Nene Valley Railway
The Friends was set up in 2011 to raise funds for the many projects needing to be undertaken but are not big enough to have their own fund raising campaign. During that time it has helped with funding towards a number of projects, including Wansford café, wagon refurbishment, new shed mess hut, children's play area, electrical test facilities, new toilet facilities at Overton, repair and replacement of lineside fencing, purchase of Wansford platform marquee, Derek Crouch overhaul and wheel turning on our BR Mk1 coaches.
We need more help to support projects in the pipeline and new schemes will need help as further modernisation and refurbishment projects get under way. We can only do this work if we have the money, and a small amount donated each month soon builds up into a meaningful sum so that more projects can be helped. Donors will be kept informed of progress through a regular newsletter and if we can generate sufficient new members we plan to hold a "Friends Day" when subscribers will be able to visit parts of the railway not usually made available and some may even enjoy a footplate ride. None of this is possible without your support so please download a standing order form as below and send it to the Friends at the main Wansford office and don't forget to sign the Gift Aid Declaration if you are eligible as this increases the value of your donation by 25%.
