Have you ever dreamed of climbing aboard the footplate of Tornado? Thanks to the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, you’ll have the rare opportunity to do just that on Sunday 13th July at Wansford Station.
Step onto the footplate, take in the controls, and even sit in the driver’s seat of this iconic locomotive!
To access Wansford Station, a platform ticket or train ticket will be required. We kindly ask visitors to consider making a donation to our Footplate Guides when stepping aboard Tornado.

Take to the regulator and drive the magnificent GWR 4144 from Wansford Station to the Tunnel Mouth and back!

GWR No 4144 will operate all services from Wansford to Yarwell. Class 14 No 9529 will operate services from Wansford to Peterborough.

Entrance Tickets including car park areas: £3 per person, refundable if a train ticket is purchased on the day, or free entrance if in possession of an advance purchase train ticket.
Car parking at Wansford will be limited due to the exhibits in the car park. Customers can park at Peterborough and Orton Mere for a small cost and travel by train. Roadside parking on the single yellow lines at Wansford is possible
Disabled parking will be available for blue badge holders at Wansford, opposite the station building.
All attractions subject to volunteer availability.
